The short answer

A small-business website redesign costs £2,450–£7,950 with us, fixed and agreed before we start. A redesign is scoped against the same published tiers as a new build — because by the time a design is worth redoing, most of the work of a new site is happening anyway. What you save is the discovery phase: your content, brand and page structure already exist as raw material.

Which tier your redesign lands in

Your situationTypical tierFixed price
Solid brand, dated site — the content still holds up, the design and code don't. Up to 5 pages.Build£2,450 (~$2,950)
Site no longer matches the business — restructured pages, conversion-focused rebuild, SEO per page, blog. Up to 8 pages.Business£4,450 (~$5,450)
Large or complex site — many pages, bespoke features, multiple markets.Premium£7,950+, scoped & fixed first

Extra pages beyond the tier are £275 each, published like everything else. If your existing branding and copy genuinely carry over untouched, the Launch tier at £1,450 can sometimes apply — we'll tell you honestly which fits after seeing the site.

The part that protects your rankings

The most expensive redesign mistake isn't visual — it's throwing away the search equity your old site spent years earning. Every URL that changes without a redirect is a ranking Google forgets. A proper redesign includes the migration work:

  • 301 redirects mapping every old URL to its new home, so links and rankings transfer instead of dying.
  • Metadata carry-over — page titles and descriptions that were earning clicks don't get discarded with the old design.
  • Sitemap resubmission and a post-launch check in Search Console to confirm Google has re-indexed the new structure.

We include this in the fixed price. When you're comparing quotes, ask specifically whether redirects and search migration are in scope — "not included" here is how a £3,000 redesign quietly costs you a year of organic traffic.

When you don't need a redesign

Sometimes the honest answer is three fixes, not a rebuild. If your site's structure and content still work, but it's slow, or dated in one section, or broken on phones — that might be a performance pass, a refreshed hero and some CSS, not £2,450. We've told people exactly that on scoping calls. A redesign is the right call when the site no longer tells the truth about your business, not merely when it's a birthday older.

The reverse red flag: a "redesign" quoted at a few hundred pounds is almost always your logo dropped into a different template — same structure, same speed problems, new coat of paint. If the cheap option were enough, you probably wouldn't be reading a pricing guide.

Questions we hear a lot

Will a redesign hurt my Google rankings?

Done carelessly, yes — changed URLs without redirects are the classic way to throw away years of accumulated ranking. Done properly, a redesign maps every old URL to its new home with 301 redirects, carries over page titles and descriptions, and resubmits the sitemap. We include that migration work in the fixed price rather than treating it as an optional extra.

Why does a redesign cost about the same as a new website?

Because the expensive parts — design, build, testing, deployment — happen either way. What a redesign saves is discovery: your content, brand and page structure already exist as a starting point. That's why redesigns usually land at our Build (£2,450) or Business (£4,450) tiers rather than needing Premium, and why anyone quoting a small fraction of build cost is probably reskinning a template around your problems.

Can you redesign a site another agency built?

Yes — most redesigns we do are of other people's builds. What matters is that you own or can export your domain, content and any customer data. We audit what exists first and tell you honestly what's worth keeping; sometimes the answer is that your current site needs three fixes, not a redesign.
